Area Guide

AREA GUIDE NORTH CHINGFORD

The area is made up of many character properties dating mostly from the Victorian period onwards. Epping Forest is a natural boundary to the northern side of Chingford around which are some of the most prestigious homes. There are extensive shopping facilities in Station Road and a number of highly regarded local restaurants of various taste & culture. As far as leisure activities are concerned, there are several local golf courses, both public and private, equestrian facilities, tennis clubs and sailing on the King George Reservoir.

There are designated Conservation areas with some interesting historical homes in addition to landmarks such as the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge, built by Henry VIII & used by his daughter, Queen Elizabeth I, in what was known as the Royal Hunting Park, now part of Epping Forest.

Pole Hill, which at it's highest point is around 91 metres, offers quite magnificent & extensive views towards London. It was famously inhabited by Lawrence of Arabia, who owned land & built a 'hut' where he lived for a number of years.  Close by, a residential cul de sac known as 'Arabia Close' was built, just off Mornington Road. Pole Hill had a granite pillar erected in 1824 in reference to it being located on the Greenwich Meridian.  A second pillar was erected some years later, approximately 19 feet to the East, which now marks the official Meridian.

'next move' are an independent estate agency dealing specifically with the sale of residential property and land. We have become established since opening in 1989 in the North Chingford, E4 and surrounding areas and have a reputation for marketing some of the most unique and interesting properties in the locality.
