Jeremy Clarkson has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will be unveiling a new Top Gear rival - after claiming 'he won't miss making a car show' and has no plans to stop doing it.

Writing in The Sun, the 55-year-old said he would miss the BBC and would 'watch the last show with a tear in his eye' before suggesting he will continue presenting duties with 'other broadcasters'.

The admission comes days after Clarkson said new Top Gear presenter Chris Evans was only offered the post after he turned it down in protest of a senior executive's likening of him to the paedophile Jimmy Savile.

Twisting the knife, he added: 'I hope Chris enjoys running what, for the next couple of weeks, is the world's biggest car show,' in reference to his new venture.

Set to unveil new show? Jeremy Clarkson has said he 'will miss the BBC but not making a car show' as 'other broadcasters are available' so he isn't going to stop presenting.

Evans previously dismissed the claim on his breakfast show -as a product of Clarkson's imagination.
He told his millions of Radio 2 listeners: 'Well, as to whether Jeremy was offered his old job back or not, either outside or inside his own head, he still said no to the voices.'

In today's Sun column, Clarkson said a senior BBC executive met him in a Mayfair hotel last week to ask him whether he would consider returning to the show.

He claims that while he was considering how to reject the offer he received a courtesy text from Chris Evans breaking the news that he had been made the new Top gear host.

Reminiscing about his tenure at the BBC, Clarkson said it had been 'one hell of a ride' and said his favourite Top Gear memory was making the Botswana special.

He also claimed his favourite fall-out with BBC bosses was when Danny Cohen called him racist for naming his dog Didier Drogba.
Chris Evans has been confirmed as the new presenter of Top Gear and model Jodie Kidd (right) is being tipped to join him on the show.

Clarkson was previously rumoured to be joining ITV after he, James May and Richard Hammond met with ITV's director of television, Peter Fincham, last month.

An industry source recently told the Guardian that 'three huge companies' were competing to sign the stars and that 'they have had offers and they are close to making a decision about what they want to do'.
ITV and the US on-demand services Netflix and Amazon are thought to be the leading the way to sign Clarkson, who was axed from the BBC2 show earlier this year after punching producer Oisin Tymon.
All three firms would look to exploit the presenters’ giant global appeal as Top Gear has a fan base of 350 million viewers worldwide.

Chris Evans was confirmed as the new host of the show earlier this week. And the radio DJ and TV presenter insisted he was '100 per cent' certain that one of his co-hosts would be a woman, with model Jodie Kidd installed as the bookmakers' favourite to take on the role.

Earlier this week Clarkson said new Top Gear presenter Chris Evans was only offered the post after he turned it down in protest of a senior executive's likening of him to the paedophile Jimmy Savile
Evans, who categorically denied he would join Top Gear three months ago, said that he had ruled himself out of the job because he didn't want to upset the former presenters - before changing his mind when it was confirmed that they would not be returning.

He suggested this week that he had only agreed to host Top Gear - on a contract rumoured to be worth £5million - after being told that James May and Richard Hammond had decided to quit the motoring show last Wednesday.

Kidd is favourite to join him as co-presenter, with bookies offering odds of 5/4 on her being appointed by BBC bosses. She is said to have been 'tight-lipped' about the possibility.

Yesterday Evans told the Mirror how he had approached a 'big name' to co-host the show with him but they turned it down after being told they would have to interview for the role.
